1 Discord

Sniff out groups of survivors

DBD discordance

Released

December 11, 2018

Unique for

Legion

Bonus type

Aura reading

The effect

Generators within a radius of 64/96/128 meters are marked with a yellow aura when two or more survivors are working on them. When it is marked for the first time, a loud noise notification is triggered. If the generator is no longer in range or has only one survivor working on it, the yellow aura will last for an additional four seconds.

Discordance is great informational bait for assassins. It has maintained a solid position in the meta since its release. While it is most effective with mobile assassins like Hillbilly, Nurse, Legion, and Oni, it is a solid advantage for any assassin as it reveals the location of survivors.

Discordance allows assassins to disrupt generators and figure out where all the survivors on the map could potentially be. It's hard to go wrong using Discordance in every matchup as it always provides value and has been for the past five years. It's also unlikely to be heavily nerfed because it's not an overpowering or frustrating perk for survivors.

Nemesis

Deadly Stalker is the perfect perk for assassins who want to start a trial with a hurricane. This helps players see the aura of survivors early in the match, which is very useful for assassins who can close the gap quickly. Deadly Stalker also increases the aura read duration of other perks like BBQ and Chili, further increasing its prevalence in the meta.

November 22, 2022

Unique for

Knight

Bonus type

Aura reading

The effect

The auras of survivors within a 24 meter radius are revealed for 3/4/5 seconds when hit by the generator.

Nowhere to Hide is the last perk on this list, and it has remained very powerful since its release. Knocking out generators is an action that every assassin in the game must do Dead By Daylight. So being able to see survivors hiding generators nearby is pretty powerful.

Players can also hack walls for free during chases near generators. Nowhere to Hide is a simple and effective perk that can be run on almost any assassin in the game. It's also not overpowered in the slightest, making it a safe pick for a killer perk that won't drop out of the meta.

4 A dead end

Buys priceless time

Dead end DBD

Released

September 7, 2021

Unique for

Cenobite

Bonus type

The generator shuts down

The effect

Whenever a generator is repaired, the generator with the highest progression on the map is blocked for 15/20/25 seconds. This generator manifests as a white aura.

Dead End, like Deadly Stalker and Nowhere to Hide, is a very consistent bonus that has a few flaws. While this may block a generator that players would like to turn off, it still gives them plenty of time to increase their lead or get back into the game.

This guide features the best power-ups to use with Cenobite Killer, Pinhead from Dead by Daylight.

Deadlock's core function works great for any assassin, as time is of the essence in this role. Deadlock has always been a part of the generator brake meta and will remain in a comfortable place as one of the best and most viable assassin perks in the game.

5 Corrupt intervention

Ensure a strong start to the match

DBD's corrupt intervention

Released

March 19, 2019

Unique for

Plague

Bonus type

The generator shuts down

The effect

The three generators furthest from the assassin are blocked at the start of the match for 80/100/120 seconds. This effect ends early if the survivor is knocked down.

Corruption intervention is the best generator shutdown advantage of all time. It has never fallen out of the meta since its release and continues to be an incredibly powerful bonus. Blocking three generators at the start of a challenge gives the assassins a huge amount of time and allows them to passively pressure the map. This also acts as a tracking bonus as assassins can patrol certain generators to catch survivors.

While the perk is disabled when a survivor is downed, Corruption intervention remains a viable option for all assassins. As previously stated, time is an assassin's greatest friend, and having plenty of it early on should help any assassin start their trial on a solid footing.

6 Bamboo

A must have for M1 assassins

Bamboozle DBD

Released

June 12, 2018

Unique for

Clown

Bonus type

The chase

The effect

Vaulting the window blocks it for 8/12/16 seconds. Survivors cannot jump through these windows. Additionally, the assassin's jump speed is increased by 5/10/15%. Only one window can be locked at a time. Going over pallets does not activate Bamboozle.

Bamboozle is objectively the weakest bonus on this list. However, that doesn't mean it's bad at all. That's because it's incredibly powerful and a must-have for some assassins, while borderline useless for others. Bamboozle is a boon for assassins who lack mobility and rely on basic attacks (M1) to finish loops. These killers include Leatherface, Wraith, Clown, Onryo and Freddy.

Bamboozle has long remained a top tier advantage. The added jump speed bonus is also highly underrated. While the survivors can counter the assassins by using Bamboozle and trying to sneak through every window, smart use of this perk can see the chase end in no time. Bamboozle is a viable option that is unlikely to be nerfed as it serves a purpose, but it is not frustrating to play against.

7 Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance

The best Scourge Hook perk in the game

DBD Pain Resonance

Released

November 30, 2021

Unique for

Artist

Bonus type

Regression generator

The effect

Four Beachy Crows appear on the map, revealing themselves with a white aura. This perk starts with four tokens. Whenever a survivor is hit by Beachy's hook, this bonus applies the following:

  • The generator with the highest progression explodes and regresses 10/15/20% of total progression.
  • After that, normal generator regression is applied.
  • Survivors repairing a damaged generator will scream, but will not reveal their location.

Despite a few nerfs, Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance remains the top choice for almost every assassin looking for a generator regression bonus. Although the pain response is not as oppressive as before, it is still a big problem for the survivors.

Assassins can inflict huge regressive penalties on generators up to four times per match. This can buy a lot of time to put pressure on other areas of the map while hooking a survivor. The only downside to this perk is the randomness as to where Beachy's hooks spawn. Pain Resonance is currently in a well-balanced position and is unlikely to change for some time, making it an exceptionally viable bonus that every assassin in Dead By Daylight can be used.
