Characters with the most fights, ranking

Summary

  • Ikkaku engaged in 7 intense battles, showing courage despite having his personal feelings affect his battles.
  • With 8 battles, Zaraki Kenpachi has an unpredictable fighting style and fights strong opponents like Grammy and Gerard.
  • Hitsugaya fights impressively through 10 battles, showing off his power alongside Hōrinmaru against foes such as Jin, Aizen, and Haribel.

Along with memorable character designs and a deeply thematic story, the Bleach The series also became known for its fight scenes. Clash of swords is practically a second language to the Soul Reapers and occupying Arrancar Bleach universe, and as a result, this has led to many exciting battles throughout the series, with a few familiar faces involved in more than a few of them.

Bleach: The 8 Bankai with the Biggest Flaws

These Bankai can be powerful, but they also have some obvious drawbacks that make them quite risky to use.

Although almost every combatant in Bleach got the chance to show what they're made of at least once in the series, there were some who raised their Zanpakutos towards the enemy multiple times, allowing them to have several fights to show off their abilities and special moves to the audience.

Since the anime is still unfinished and new battles may be included, only the manga battles will be counted to determine who fought the most.

8 Ikaku Madarame

Number of fights: 7

Although Ikkaku was not even a captain, he still has enough courage to fight against many opponents throughout the series, often going far beyond his abilities to destroy his opponents. His first fight was against Ishihigo, where he was outmatched by the Soul Reaper because Ikaku underestimated his newfound opponent.

He will then have numerous battles throughout the Arrancar Arc, in which Ikaku unleashes his ferocious Bankai for the first time. However, Ikaku is not a perfect fighter, as Iba reminds him during a game of Fake Karakura Town when he tells Ikaku that his personal feelings often get the better of him and can end up costing him battles. However, he has proven himself to be a reliable soldier that his captain Kenpachi can always count on when the going gets tough.

7 Zaraki Kenpachi

Number of battles: 8

It should come as no surprise that this list features the most bloodthirsty member of the Gotei 13, who only likes to swing his sword at anyone who gets in his way. Kenpachi was one of the few captains allowed two fights in the Soul Society arc, but soon after he was back in the line of fire fighting Yami and Nnoitra, making him the true star player of the Arrancar Saga story.

Bleach: The 8 Best Kenpachi Fights, Ranked

Gotei 13's monster, Zaraki Kenpachi, has been involved in some of Bleach's most epic battles.

During the final war, Kenpachi's combat score will increase significantly as he battles the likes of Gremmy, Unohana, and even Gerrard Valkyrie. Given Kenpachi's wild and unpredictable fighting style, seeing him participate in so many battles has been a real treat for fans, especially in the fights where he gains new power-ups, such as unleashing his Shikai and Bankai for the first time.

6 Toshiro Hitsugaya

Number of battles: 10

A prodigy who quickly rose to captain, Hitsugaya is an extremely powerful Soul Reaper whose Zanpakutō, Hyōrinmaru, allows him to destroy his opponents with ice attacks. This fan-favorite character thankfully shows up to fight a lot of enemies, first facing off against Captain Jin Ichimaru early in the series and then Aizen before fighting Harribel when the Arrancars show up.

One of Hitsugaya's most underrated fights comes in the Fullbring Arc where he faces off against Yukio, but it's actually during the final arc of the series that he gets the most time to shine. Not only does he fight Buzz Bee and later Gerard Valkyrie, but during his brief zombie stint he even tries to fight Mayuri, which doesn't exactly end well for the young captain.

5 Uryu Ishida

Number of battles: 10

Since the biggest fights in each arc are always reserved for Ichigo, Uryuu's battles often fly under the radar, making it easy to forget just how many intense fights he's been involved in. Although he had a brief run-in with a few soul reapers in Soul Society, his encounter with Captain Mayuri is remembered most fondly by many people. Another highlight is his duel with Saelopor, although it's a battle that goes on too long due to the amount of comedic moments inserted into it.

Uryu even manages to hold his own against Haschwalt at the very end of the series. If Uryuu's anime feats were taken into account, that number would be much higher considering he was turned into a killing machine for one Quincy, but since he still has a lot of battles ahead of him, there's no telling how much he would have for sure at this point.

4 Renji Abarai

Number of battles: 10

With each battle Renji takes part in, he develops both mentally and physically, to the point that when he appears in the Millennium Blood War, he is almost a completely different person. His duel with Ichigo in Soul Society convinced Renji to turn against his own captain to get back at Rukia's sentence. Randy would then prove to be a loyal asset to Ichigo, traveling with him to Ueko Munda where he would team up with Uryuu to take on Saelopor, where he could experiment with his Zanpakutō abilities some more.

Bleach: the most underrated captains, ranking

These Bleach captains are often overshadowed by their comrades despite the lengths they go to protect Soul Society.

After destroying Jackie in the Fullbring arc and soon being trained by Squad 0, Renji destroys the Mask of Man and faces many other Sternritters throughout the war. By the end of the manga, Renji has an absurd amount of power, so while the anime did a good job of showing him a bit more, it would have been nice to see him get a few more fights in the latter stages of the original source material.

3 Rukia Kuchiki

Number of battles: 10

Although she was absent for most of the Soul Society arc due to her imprisonment, Rukia participated in many battles against the Hollows prior to the start of this arc, including taking down Fishbone D and Shrieker. Her next series of duels would come with the arrival of the Arrancar, where she would try to hold off Grimmjow, and also face Dee Roy Rinker, though her most important battle at this stage would be against Aaronair.

Araneira will try to impersonate the late Kaien, Rukia's friend, forcing her to push through painful memories in order to defeat the evil Espada once and for all. Her comical fight with Riruka would then be contrasted with the gruesome battle against Ace Nodt, where Rukia finally revealed her Bankai before helping to hold back the other Stenritter after he was defeated.

2 Byakuya Kuchiki

Number of battles: 10

For a while, it seemed like every time Byakuya appeared on screen it was always part of an intense battle, especially considering he was introduced as the villain for most of the Soul Society arc. However, while his fights with Ichigo, Zommari, and Ace Nodt stand out, it's easy to forget that Byakuya has faced swords with plenty of other opponents throughout the series.

Whether it's his brutal takedown of Renji, his battle of wits with Tsukishima, or his rather unusual face-to-face encounter with Pepe, Byakuya is a captain who never hesitates to raise his Zanpakuto when he suspects someone is a danger to him and the Sereitei. As a result, Byakuya often preferred to blast his enemies to pieces with a quick shot of the Senbonzakura rather than trying to resolve the situation with words.

1 Ichigo Kurosaki

Number of battles: 34

Ichigo has had so many fights in this series that every fan has their own unique favorite since there is such a wide variety. A few highlights include his face-to-face encounter with Byakuya, in which Ichigo's void powers take over for the first time, and his battles with Grimmjow and Ulquiorra, which push the brave protagonist to his absolute limit. It's also hard to ever forget his fated battle with Aizen, which forced Ichigo to sacrifice his Soul Reaper powers, though that certainly didn't stop him from fighting.

As a Fullbringer, Ichigo participated in even more battles before fighting many members of the Quincy army, including facing Ihwach himself on several occasions. Looking at Ichigo's first few fights against the puny Hollows at the beginning of the series, and the unstoppable monster he becomes at the end, it's clear how much he's learned from engaging in such a staggering number of encounters throughout the story.
