Capcom developers are hinting at an upcoming remastering Dead Rising 2 in the style of the latter Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Frank West's original trek through the zombie-infested Willamette Parkview Mall was revived on modern hardware with a new coat of paint on September 19th to mostly positive reviews, leading fans to wonder if Capcom is going to give the same treatment to the next installments in the series, such as 2010s Dead Rising 2.
Dead Rising 2 replaced Frank with biker Chuck Green and introduced a weapon crafting mechanic that allowed players to collect items to craft more powerful tools to defend against the hordes of undead roaming the Las Vegas-inspired Fortune City. In 2011, Capcom released a reimagining under the title Dead Rising 2: Not for the recordwhich retold the story of the original game with Frank as the main character. Joss Patrick, voice actor for Frank West Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterrecently asked fans to request an updated version Not for the record in a survey conducted by Capcom this month.
The original Dead Rising 2 was also one of the options fans could vote on in this poll asking gamers if they wanted to see the future Dead Rising Games after release Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Some of the developers behind the remastering, such as director Ryosuke Murai, original game director Yoshinori Kawana, art director Satoshi Takamatsu, and producer Kei Morimoto, recently did an interview with Inverse where they mentioned the possibility of a remastering Dead Rising 2.
Marimoto says remastering Dead Rising 2 will depend on how well Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is in the works, but added that it's “definitely possible” and that Capcom will look into it if they can “determine a good time when we can sell [it].” Capcom has previously stated that it wants to revive the once-dormant game Dead Rising series after release Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterwhich led to increased sales of past installments such as the original Dead Rising 2.
Dead Rising 2 is still considered by many to be one of the best records in the Dead Rising franchise, and logically it would be the next game to be reinvented Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster prove to be quite successful for Capcom. Only time will tell if gamers get the chance to don Chuck Green's signature yellow jacket and fight their way through another zombie apocalypse with the same level of polish that was given to the first one Dead Rising game, but fans are definitely looking forward to this opportunity.
