Despite having only 3 episodes, the first part of the show provides an intriguing introduction to the world Re: Zeroshowcasing the comedic dynamic between the clueless Subaru and his new friends. During their adventures, the group interacts with familiar faces like Reinhard and Krush Carsten, with the show's iconic comedic tone shining throughout the opening episode of the arc.

In this whirlwind of an episode, the Attack Arc promises to showcase the ever-growing number of archbishops of sin bent on bringing harm to Subaru and his friends. However, the arc in the anime is still in its infancy and there is still a lot to explore in the coming episodes, although early signs point to a promising arc.

As Subaru continued his journey, he ended up at Rosvaal Manor, where he met fan favorites such as the Oni sisters, Rem and Ram, Rosvaal L. Mathers, and the spirited Beatrice. While the main character goofs off when interacting with his new friends, this arc has a healthy dose of Death Return, deception, and agents of evil working to thwart Subaru. While characters like Rozvaal and Rem appear pleasant and happy on the surface, both are shown to be menacing, with the famous blue-haired maid killing Subaru based on his suspicious behavior.


Throughout the arc, Subaru works to win over his new companions, including Emilia, which makes for comedic yet compelling viewing. At the arc's peak, Subaru begins to show his usefulness when he saves Remo and Arlam's village from a pack of Mobists, showing growth from the beginning of the show where he seems oblivious to the thoughts of others. Excitingly, much of the arc sets the stage for events to come, acting as introductions to many of the characters that will influence the proceedings while also showing Subaru's growing understanding of his power.

In the second half of Season 1, tension and hardship arrive at Subaru's door as he becomes estranged from Emilia for his actions in the royal selection process. After making a fool of hundreds of high-ranking officials, including receiving a beating from the knight Julius, Emilia casts Subaru aside for his selfish attitude, leaving him lost. As a result, Subaru struggles with the help of many friends, including Remo, Crush, and even his nemesis Julius, against obstacles such as the White Whale and the Cult of the Witch, who seek to destroy the residents of Roswall Manor, including Emilia.

Throughout Subaru's redemption arc, he faces many trials and tribulations that push him to his limits. However, Subaru learns to trust the people he encounters on his journey who help fight his battles. One of the many great aspects of the arc is the amount of mind-blowing battles that take place. So the exciting battle between Subaru and Crush's army against the White Whale turned out to be epic, while taking down part of the witch cult felt euphoric after Subaru's problems with the group earlier in the arc.

Season 2 Re: Zero found himself alone for centuries as Subaru and Emilia faced many obstacles that pushed them to the end. The anime's fourth arc, spanning the entirety of the second season, saw the main characters come face-to-face with Echidna, the Witch of Greed, in the Sanctuary. This arc became famous for the fact that it bore fruit on Re: Zeros the biggest villain, as Jahidna has a strong influence on the events that take place. While the scheming witch plotted against Subaru and Emilia to gain knowledge, Rosvaal acted as a secondary antagonist, causing despair and chaos in Subaru, the Sanctuary, and the residents of Rosvaal Manor to break the protagonist's will.


In a rollercoaster of emotions, the arc sees many characters at their lowest, with Emilia and Beatrice shown to be vulnerable as they deal with the effects of their pasts and the influence of the Greedy Witch. As the heroes try to solve the emerging crisis, new characters such as the stubborn Garfiel Tinzel and Rosvaal Manor's maid Frederica Bauman appear in the ranks. Proving complexity with all the changing moments, Re: Zero delivers an ambitious season filled with strong emotions, ongoing mystery, and character development that sets the series on a good path for further development.
