Here's everything you need to know before diving into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge!

You can play through the trilogy as Daniel, Mr. Miyagi, Ali, and Kumiko, all of whom are depicted in beautiful, period-appropriate pixel art. However, the road to karate glory will not be easy, and you will fight many tough opponents on your way. Use these tips to knock out your opponents and prove that you are the best.

Stick with one character on your first playthrough

Daniel LaRusso and his character development/update in The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

All playable characters in Street Rumble level up by defeating opponents and completing levels. This progression gives you access to new signature attacks and different gameplay loverssuch as extra lives and an increased focus meter.

Although it may be tempting to try the entire list while doing so can leave characters at a low level until the end of the campaign, making the final stages disproportionately difficult.

Trophy hunters will also be rewarded for their loyalty; there is
achievements to reach the tenth and maximum level
with each playable character.

Play mini-games to practice combos

Daniel LaRusso competes in the Karate Practice minigame in The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

During the campaign, Street Rumble will have short interludes to introduce mini-games. Karate Practice and Tournament Practice (unlocked at the end of the game) deserve special attention as they see you practicing the combo you can unleash bullies in traditional levels.

It's worth spending some time in these modes to learn each combination and game time masterallowing you to severely punish enemies that stand in your way.

Use throws for crowd control

Daniel LaRusso performs a throw, knocking several Cobra Kai thugs against each other in The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

If you enter the enemyyour character will initiate capture. You can then continue to knock them down with the light attack button, or launch them with a strong attack.

These throws become invaluable when there are a lot of enemies on the screen, like A thrown enemy will hit any other in its pathbeating them all down. Not only does this deal damage to all of them, but it also gives you a moment to think, allowing you to plan how you want to attack next.

Keep focus

Daniel LaRusso does a full focus crane kick in The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

When digging your fists into enemies, you will notice a a purple sensor that fills from below your health bar. This is yours Focusresource that can be used to unleash your character's signature attacks. Each move costs one piece of gauge, and as you level up your character, they'll gain additional segments in the focus meter.

There is another way that your Focus can be depleted, and that is through being attacked. The Focus sensor will actually protect you from losing health until it is completely empty, and therefore yes it's important not to spam your signature moves.

It's possible to get through the entire level without losing health, but if you don't pay attention to your focus, you'll quickly run out of lives.

Jump to avoid damage

Daniel LaRusso performs a jump shot in The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

Anyone who has practiced karate knows how important it is to have a strong core, with a large amount of power coming from the hips and legs. It makes sense then that most of the enemies in Street Rumble stand firmly on the ground.

It also means them attacks can often be avoided by simply jumping. Use your air strikes to keep up the offensive while minimizing the risk of getting killed.

Prioritize barriers

Daniel LaRusso breaks through the barrier in The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

At certain stages, you will encounter barriers that will block your progress. You will need to destroy them to continuebut this task is made much more difficult by the waves of thugs coming at you.

Barrier should be your first priorityas destroying it will stop further enemies from spawning. Then use those bastards as punching bags to build your Focus unleash a flurry of branded attacks into the barrier.

If you feel like you're fighting a horde on screen, use throws, power attacks, or other methods to
knock enemies to the ground
and buy yourself time to hit the wall.

Look for pickups

Daniel LaRusso grabs a bonsai tree in The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

Street Rumble has a small collection of pickups that can help you on your journey. They will help restore your health, Focusand even increase your attack power.

Unlike other beat-em-ups, they won't just drop from enemies after defeating them. Instead, you'll have to explore the environment, punching through parts of the background to see if they hide useful items. It is encouraged attack every interacting element in stage; you never know if it contains a useful boost!

Don't forget to parry

Daniel LaRusso performs a parry (or dodge) in The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

Along with jumping and keeping Focus, Street Rumble has another way to avoid damage, and that's it evasion. Even though the game calls it a dodging performance, it is much more like a parrysince you are not moving at all and are allowed to attack immediately after.

Parrying is as easy as pressing the appropriate button (Circle/B/A) right before you get hit. If done right, you will negate any effect on your attention or healthand get the opportunity to strike. It's a high-risk, high-reward technique, but it can be incredibly useful during boss battles to hold your position without losing access to your signature moves (or your life).
