Demonstration for Persona 3 Reload has just lived on PlayStation and Xbox. It's been more than a year since the game is running, so when you ask me, it feels a little late. Better late than never, I guess.
What is interesting about the demo was not his delay, but the ATLUS sample showed when it comes to his game demonstrations. ATLUS hacked the code that makes a good demonstration for its long JRPG brand, no matter how late there may be some demonstrations.
A new era of video game demonstrations
Publishers became a common strategy to release the first 30 minutes of the game as a demo so that players can feel up to the hook of history and what the main mechanics. Sometimes demonstrations can last longer, depending on how fast the player gets the systems, but usually they are quite fast. The best part is that, since it is only the opening of the game, your safety data will usually tolerate, and you will not have to reproduce the first bit as soon as the full game comes out.
The demonstration of the star blade comes to mind as a relatively recent example. The demonstration is the first 45 minutes of the game, which demonstrates several bosses and approximately a quarter of the first level after the textbook. This is a great snack for what should come with the rest of the games, and after her game, most people find out whether they want to buy a full game or not.
Things become a little harder when you make a demonstration for games that start slower, like many ATLUS names. Because games such as Persona 3 Reload or Metaphor: Refantazio don't get into true experience to many hours, giving the player a 45-minute demonstration will not be useful. Over the past few years, however, ATLUS has started a demonstration for its largest titles, which can last for almost five hours.
This is the best way to handle demonstrations for games like those in the ATLUS directory. Thus, the players are provided with a considerable amount of content to explore while realizing that they are just starting to scratch the surface of a stretch experience. With Persona 3 Reload, players are provided for more than a month in the game to start getting a sense of social communication system, fight, Tartarus, Calendar System and almost everything else that can offer the game.
ATLUS has the best demonstrations
The studio did the same with the metaphor: refantazio and Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. Atlus seems to know that a 30-minute piece of person is not going to sell anyone in the game, so he just goes to it and for a while gives the players the reins, giving them time to truly impregnate systems and vibration.
I hope this will be the norm for Atlus, because everything I talked to the demonstration had a really positive experience with them. My friend, who seemed not interested in the metaphor: Refantazio gave a demonstration because she was free and eventually bought a full game and plunged in 60 hours. Obviously, such a story is not an isolated incident because ATLUS seems to be passionate about such demonstrations for their biggest issues, which can benefit them only to go ahead, with an increasing cost of games.
All that is said, I have one note for ATLUS: Demonstrations are usually released before the game launch, not after 14 months. Maybe write this down.
