SteamDB's player count charts don't paint a pretty picture of the game's early days Assassin's Creed MirageSteam release. On the first Saturday after release, when the game was expected to have the highest number of players remaining, the game peaked at 6,381 players at the time of writing. Looking at the latest games in Assassin's Creed series, Origins reached 41,551 players, Odysseus on 62,069, and Valhalla at 15,679. This is a significant decrease for Assassin's Creed Mirage. In the interest of justice, Valhalla is the only RPG of the trio that wasn't released on Steam on day one, which explains its lower score.

To put these numbers into perspective, at the exact time of writing, Assassin's Creed Mirage has 3,691 current players. Assassin's Creed Odysseywhich was released back in 2018 has 3,370. Those rough early numbers are of course subject to change, but they're certainly surprising, especially considering that Assassin's Creed Mirage launched on Steam with a 50% discount, bringing it down to $24.99 until October 24th.

There's no doubt that the numbers are skewed due to the delayed Steam release, but that won't be an issue for Ubisoft games going forward. Assassin's Creed Shadows will launch day one on Steam, as will most of the publisher's games in the future, which should go a long way in making the player count look much better for the series. It's going to be a busy few years for the series as a whole. Recent rumors have announced that ten Assassin's Creed games are slated for release in the next five years, which would be a big boost for a series that hasn't released a main title in either 2021 or 2022.
