The new Loyalist PLAS-15 Helldivers 2 raises the bar for secondary weapons
The PLAS-15 Loyalist is a sidearm variant Cleaner PLAS-101 primary weapon. This sidearm's ammo is about half that of its counterpart, but it still packs more firepower than the popular main weapon. The PLAS-15 Loyalist holds 7 shots and will consume one unit of ammo per shot, regardless of whether players fire an unloaded or fully charged shot. Since charge shots increase their damage, charging each shot before firing is the best way to use the PLAS-15 Loyalist. However, rapid uncharged shots can still be useful in desperate situations.
While the PLAS-15 Loyalist is listed as an explosive weapon, it doesn't have enough firepower to take out enemy structures like Terminid bug holes and Automaton bot factories like other explosive weapons, at least with reasonable the amount of ammunition. Instead, this weapon's explosive abilities refer to the splash damage done when charging this weapon before firing. So while it may not provide utility GP-31 grenade launcherThe PLAS-15 Loyalist is still a top tier weapon with the added sweep.
Overall, the PLAS-15 Loyalist is one of the most versatile sidearms as it can be useful on both Terminid and Automaton. Hell divers 2. Terminids have a habit of grouping together in small clusters, meaning that the splash damage of the PLAS-15 Loyalist's Charged Arrows is ideal for taking out these enemies while conserving ammo, which is very important when using a secondary weapon.

The Stratagem Backpack will fully restock PLAS-15 Loyalist in one go. The single ammo packs found in the POI will only replenish half of the loyal PLAS-15's supply.
In addition to splash damage, both uncharged and charged shots from the PLAS-15 Loyalist also have average armor penetration, which is currently rare among sidearms. The medium armor penetration of this weapon is usually more useful against Automata, as few Automata units have medium armor, while Terminids usually have more units with light or heavy armor.
This average armor penetration combined with splash damage makes the PLAS-15 loyalist one of the most versatile secondary weapons in the game, with the only downside being its low ammo supply. Although, given that almost every sidearm has this problem, the PLAS-15 Loyalist can generally outperform other sidearms, perhaps creating a new meta in Hell divers 2. Therefore, the PLAS-15 Loyalist is highly recommended for players who have not yet used this new weapon, especially for those players who already enjoy the PLAS-101 Purifier as their main weapon.
