How to improve characters in The Forever Winter
When conflict arises, there is always an opportunity for enterprising people to make the most of the situation. Some may profit from the constant struggle, while others may seek to seize power and rise to the top of what is left. Others are just trying to survive, and that's where the players will find themselves Eternal winter.
As a co-op tactical survival horror shooter, it's up to you to decide how best to progress and whether to do so alone or with trusted allies. While your combat skills will come in handy, your choice of character will also play a large part in determining your play style in the wasteland. Here's a guide to all five characters Art Eternal winterand how they play.
Choosing the right character in The Forever Winter
At this early access stage, the loot shooter has five different characters for players to choose from, each with a unique skill tree and stats that affect how they play. Naturally, for players who gravitate toward a certain playstyle, it's likely that there will be a certain character that fits that profile.
Old man
This character is a Survivalist and has skills that focus on getting the most out of medical supplies. He's fairly proficient with primary weapons, so you can rely on rifles, shotguns, heavy rifles, and pistols. With his average health and speed, the Old Man is a decent choice for a solo player, but works best in a group.
Scav Girl
As for Scav Girl, this personality is all about speed and stealth, giving her an edge over others when it comes to movement. Her skills affect speed and ranged weapons, and she has a lower health pool to balance her increased speed. Having learned to wield rifles, shotguns, pistols, and assault rifles, her ability to see loot icons via the HUD at twice the distance of others makes her a valuable heist pro.
Mask man
The Masked Man is a weapons master for a reason, forsaking any nuance in his weapon skills that make him a force to be reckoned with. Even at average health and speed, his shotgun, shotgun, pistol, and submachine gun training levels the playing field, and being able to see prey locations at twice the distance of others is always a benefit.
Shaman
For those who need more carrying capacity, the logistics master Shaman is the best choice. Similar to the Scabber Girl in that he can see loot icons with greater effectiveness, the Shaman can use rifles, shotguns, pistols, and submachine guns early on. Skills focused on a combination of speed, carrying and weapons allow players to be more versatile.
Man-bag
Finally, Bagman is a force, his skills focus on carrying and heavy weapons. His low speed balances out his high health, but his ability to wield rifles, shotguns, light machine guns, heavy machine guns, and heavy rifles can make this character a useful ally in both conflict and looting.
How to improve characters in The Forever Winter
By using certain characters and weapons, players will gain experience in different ways. Gain enough experience with your weapons and you'll start unlocking more items to buy from vendors. So, if you're looking for a powerful weapon, it's best to keep improving your skill with this type of weapon. At the same time, the character's experience will accumulate, allowing players to unlock skills to increase their effectiveness or unlock new items and installations to use.
Once you reach your XP limit, you will be able to gain prestige. Each time you choose prestige, you will:
- Improve the basic characteristics of the character
- Increase your experience cap to get a new level of prestige
- Reset all previously acquired skills
This is the best way to level up a character while gaining access to the entire skill tree. The more you play and the better you are at surviving, the more you expect. Note that items and upgrades may be lost if the internals run out of water, your experience, unlocked skills and prestige levels will not be reset.
