Nintendo now needs to sell 160 million switches to overtake the PS2
It's official: Nintendo needs to sell 14 million more Switches to become the best-selling console in history.
While many of the previous rumors will likely be debunked, especially given how well Nintendo keeps its secrets, we may have just seen our first piece of very plausible evidence, as the Chinese case maker has reportedly sent mockup version of the Switch. 2 for YouTuber.
As is often the case, take this with a grain of salt until Nintendo announces anything.
Did we just get our first proper look at the Nintendo Switch 2?
The video was made by popular YouTube user Nintendo Switch SwitchUp, who claims to have received a 3D printed version of the Nintendo Switch 2 that the case maker used to design the cases.
The case maker, which has become the second company to leak a Switch 2 case, has sent a copy of its products to SwitchUp. He confirmed that he did not receive an actual copy of Nintendo's new hardware, but instead worked from the specifications he received.
The resulting SwitchUp mockup came with a screen protector that the YouTuber compared to the original Switch. This protector would seem to confirm that the Switch 2 will be significantly larger than its predecessor, by about “half an inch on each side,” according to SwitchUp.
This protector would seem to confirm that the Switch 2 will be much larger than its predecessor,
They claim that the Switch 2 “version” they were sent is about the same thickness and look-alike as the original, with a cartridge slot of a similar size and in the same location, which, if true, proves the opposite of the compatibility rumor. The new console will also reportedly have a USB-C port on the top, which will fix one of the Nintendo Switch's most annoying problems.
Finally, SwitchUp compared both sets of Joy-Cons, which, apart from being larger and slightly more curved, were exactly the same.
Although this information is plausible, you should definitely take this information with a grain of salt. Although the manufacturer may have received the specifications, he may not have received an image of the product. Instead, the design could be based on a combination of the original Switch and the dimensions it got from Nintendo. In any case, these are exciting times.
