Witch fire has finally made its way to Steam with six playable classes to choose from: Butcher, Hunter, Assassin, Shadow, Saint, and Penitent. The descriptions tell what each class is capable of doing. Some even come with a warning sign that they are not suitable for beginners. Dark fantasy shooter Rogue Lite takes a few pages from the Souls games, so players will likely want to try out each class to see which one best suits their playstyle.
This is of course also a common expectation of every player in any RPG. Your first playthrough will probably make you wonder how the other classes play. However, its Souls-like tendencies mean that switching classes isn't as simple as visiting an NPC or opening a specific menu. There are certain obstacles to progress that players must be aware of. That's what the game offers.
Can you switch classes in Witchfire?
The only way to change classes in Witch fire is to start a new character. You cannot switch between classes for the same profile. For example, if you find the long-range rifle of the Shadow class too demanding, or you want to try any of the other classes, you should ditch your Shadow character and create a new profile.

restricts you from transferring anything unlocked from one character to another. So creating a new class profile is essentially starting from scratch.
However, the inability to switch classes is not death. New players should understand this classes don't matter Art Witch fire. They can all be leveled up to unlock every weapon, spell, enhancement, etc. in the game.
What's the point of changing classes in Witchfire?
As well as classes in Dark soulsclasses in Witch fire serves only as an initial preset. Choosing a class in Witch fire means what weapons, spells, and stats you start with.
Slayer and Shadow, for example, have the highest starting Sorcery stat for your spells. However, the Slayer starts with more stamina, which is an important stat in the game. Shadow, on the other hand, has more Metanoia to help you level up quickly.
Penitent, as another example, starts with one of the best weapons in the world Witch firebut none of his stats increase. However, you can use Ascension Shrine to level him up multiple times to get the same stamina and metanoia stats as the Slayer and Shadow classes. On the same note, both Slayer and Shadow can unlock the Penitent's starting weapon.
So it all boils down to what starting gear and stats you want to have Witch fire. After all, every class can unlock everything and increase every stat.
Researching new weapons and spells

used to depend on RNG. There was no guarantee that the medium range weapon you were researching would turn out to be the Hangfire Hand Cannon. However, after the Weeping Tower upgrade, each weapon and spell category has a research order. Taking the same example, Hangfire is now the third mid-range weapon, meaning you're guaranteed to unlock Hangfire during the third research. Likewise, the popular Hailstorm sniper rifle is now guaranteed a second unlock in the ranged category.
