Souls games may have been popularized and iconized through Dark soulsbut it wouldn't be Dark souls without its predecessor — humble and single Souls of demons. Souls of demons'world trend's segmented warp structure and macrocosmic system are certainly different, for better or for worse, while its core tenets as an action role-playing game will be adapted to extremely complex Dark souls for FromSoftware to refine it into the classic and revered formula that is universally known and loved today.
Demon's Souls has taken a long and hard-earned path to soul-like success
As a prototype Souls game, it cannot be overstated how staggeringly influential it is Souls of demons was over the past decade and a half. For all intents and purposes, a 2009 PS3 exclusive Souls of demons is the skeletal basis for Dark souls'fabric. Now, all subsequent action role-playing games from FromSoftware and Soulslike continue to add this anatomical structure with organs and a nervous system.
Almost all the good features of modern FromSoftware games can be traced Souls of demonswhether players enjoy boss tricks, PvP raids, or quest-related NPCs. World Tendency is now a relic Souls of demons' the past, however, and its conditions and consequences affecting the game, do not seem to be very sad.
It's great that it allowed for unique events and varying difficulty, but achieving the Pure White Tendency in every world or worrying about how to properly manipulate character and World Tendencies so that otherwise locked content can become available is an unnecessary headache that FromSoftware perhaps it was right to postpone after that. Souls of demons archaic in itself, and with each new IP FromSoftware makes, the original Soulslike game further recedes into obscurity and obsolescence, which is ironic considering how without Souls of demons most likely it wouldn't be Elden Ring nor his Shadow of the Erdtree DLC 15 years later.

FromSoftware's Demon's Souls is no longer the best way to play the original “Soulslike”
2009 year Souls of demons was developed by FromSoftware, and 2020 Souls of demons the remake was developed by Bluepoint. So, while clearly less impressive in terms of visuals and performance, the former retains a level of genuine charm.
However, the remake is basically the same game, but with a fresh coat of paint and modern quality-of-life features, making it the undisputed choice of the two due to its current-gen availability. Ability to send items to storage or warp between arches without having to return Souls of demons' The otherworldly center of the Nexus—when the archdemon is destroyed—gives the remake an added effectiveness that the original lacks. The remake was the launch title for the PS5 and is not only celebrated as a reimagining of the original, but also in terms of modern-gen accuracy.
Indeed, the remake is one of the few times where the visuals were held in the highest regard Souls games and is still considered the most beautiful, despite the fact that it is not a FromSoftware title. Everyone Souls the game has a strong fan base, but the original Souls of demonsbuilt into the PS3, has aged the worst graphically.
To be clear, FromSoftware's games have always featured extremely gorgeous art direction, but since then, their accuracy hasn't reached significant levels.

shy of ten years ago.
Souls of demons' remake stands out for its visual excellence, especially its unique animation styles, and certainly harkens back to FromSoftware Souls of demons as a result. The only reason to come back Souls of demons for the PS3 will have a nostalgic element, considering that's where the game was conceived and the fact that 2009 Souls of demons was actually developed by FromSoftware. Even with the exquisite craquelure on his oil painting, knowing that the original, unrefined Souls of demons is FromSoftware's game, while the remake can't be enough to keep purists and loyalists alike.
